THE NIGERIAN DREAM

D Nigerian Dream Just began!

Have U ever wondered why the colour GREEN appears twice on the Nigerian flag, that is...GREEN WHITE GREEN? If your answer is No...then read on!
The colour green signifies AGRICULTURE while white signifies PEACE & UNITY.

I sure believe U must have heard of those good days of Nigeria...those days of the cocoa and the ground nut pyramids of 1950s, the cassava booms, the palm oil booms etc...when the dollar was less the Naira in value.

Those days are gone, it is news now...Nigeria before the discovery of oil was driven on agriculture and agricultural produce. As the agriculture flourished ..every region had its special agricultural produce based on its soil type and climate...this of course kept the people busy and enhanced PEACE & UNITY.

Then the story changed...Oil was discovered! The oil boom of the early 1960's was uncontrollable and a great "misfortune" for Nigeria...Nigeria shifted from a producing Nation to an all consuming Nation. The problem was therefore not how to make the money...but how to spend it. Splendor, expensive wastage in government, corruption set in which led to the Military junta...the rest of the story am sure you know!

Therefore, for the sustenance  of d Nigerian Nation Nigeria must drive an Agriculturally driven economy and  not an Oil Economy as she is doing presently.

Secondly, the people and the nation must make very conscious effort at developing the potentials of her people. Only on such grounds could we say... finally, Nigeria has got a focus!
